Where the money stops
Verification is an evidence decision, not a product. A paid plan includes the work of a review, never its outcome.
Rankings run in score order on every plan. Your Councl Score is built from your own reviews, record and web presence, and nothing on this page carries any weight in it. If the evidence does not hold up, there is no Verified mark — which is the only reason the mark means anything.
What a Level A evidence review checks
One review a year, done by hand. Every check below reads a source you do not control, which is the only reason the mark carries weight. We do not ask for client files. Verification is available for US-admitted firms today; other jurisdictions follow as we build the register lookups for each.
- Bar admission
- Admission and current standing, checked against the roll of the issuing bar or regulator.
- Disciplinary record
- Public disciplinary findings and any current suspension, from the regulator's own record.
- USPTO registration
- Where patent work is claimed, registration on the USPTO roster of practitioners.
- Filing record
- Trademark and patent filings matched to the firm at the USPTO, EUIPO and other offices.
- Firm and address
- The entity and its offices, confirmed against the state or national corporate registry.
- Years in practice
- Derived from the admission date rather than taken from the claim on your profile.
Pass and your profile carries the Verified mark for the year. Fail and it does not, and the review is not refunded. Read how the score works for what the review does not touch.

No. Every ranking on Councl is in score order, on every plan. There is no sponsored slot, no priority placement, and no way to buy a position. If a firm is above you, it scored above you.
